Construction
The renovation of the apartment in Kifisia was a project that called for a drastic complete redesign of an old apartment. The design idea focused on the need of the clients to create a modern and vibrant living environment with luxury and elegance dominating every detail. Apart from a small part of a wall which was demolished, to ensure better unification on the living room spaces and the addition of a fireplace column, no other major changes on the floor plan took place. All windows where replaced with new ones and the whole apartment was insulated to fit with modern building energy performance standards.
Kitchen and Bathroom Design
The floor covering was chosen to be of light oak wood, apart from the kitchen and the bathroom, where luxury marble tiles formed a perfect match extending all the way up to cover the kitchen counter wall and the bathroom surfaces. The furniture on each room has its own character matching the utility of space, but with a well-balanced differentiation that won’t disturb the harmony of the design as a whole. On the kitchen dark grey cupboards with classical forms and details where used, matching the dark grey waters on the marbles and highlighting the white marble counter. Dark green velvet textures and golden metallic finishes form the breakfast counter with its elegant stools.
Bedrooms Design
On the main bedroom elegant round bed tables, suspended decorative lights and a relaxing naturalistic wallpaper on the back of the patterned textured headboard form a space of calmness and retreat. Concealed lighting is also used to highlight interesting geometries and enhance relaxation through indirect lighting. Built in cupboards where used in all rooms for best exploitation of space and maximum storage capacity. The second bedroom was formed as a guest room with a sofa bed and a custom designed desk. Wooden details and surfaces, vertical patterned stripes as decoratives and a grey color palette create an intriguing environment of adjustable uses for that room.
Living Room Design
As far as the living room and dining room concerned, materials, textures and colors follow the same palette as the rest of the house, with wood, golden finishes, green velvet textiles and accent color cushions taking the lead of the design. A built in wooden library with concealed lighting along with a state of the art modern armchair and an oriental carpet formulate a signature corner for reading and relaxing in privacy. A corner sofa with a sculptural coffee table out of marble and wood, with three decorative circular suspended lights above, define the main living room, positioned on the floor plan in a way that creates different visual focal points on the fireplace, the TV, the dining room and the view from the windows.
Dining Room – Details Design
The dining room states its dominance, consisting of a big oval marble surfaced dining table with cylindrical golden pillars and classy gold coated aluminium dining chairs with dark green velvet cushions. The overall design is completed by design statement wall and suspended lights, a custom designed half-circular mirror in the corridor right by the entrance and concealed lighting that accentuates the geometries of spaces and the significant catch of the eye points, which is considered a must for a modern apartment of luxurious elegancy.
